LIMS Manager (Fixed Term)

We are looking for an experienced and proactive LIMS Manager to join the Cancer Clinical Informatics (CCI) Team. Our team includes a CCI Lead, a LIMS Technical Support Coordinator, and a Data Manager, with plans for further expansion. Currently, our LIMS supports 16 different organisations and laboratories, including the CUH Tissue Bank, Cancer Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory and the CRUK Cambridge Institute.

As LIMS Manager, you will play a central role in managing the LIMS system to ensure it remains validated and compliant with GDPR, HTA, and NHS R&D and IG regulations. You will work closely with laboratory teams, ensuring that the LIMS meets their operational and regulatory needs. You will be responsible for overseeing the system's computer system validation (CSV) processes, including testing critical functionality and maintaining logs. The role also involves collaboration with the vendor and technical teams to incorporate new workflows and tools that support both research and clinical operations.

In this role, you will proactively manage projects using Agile methodologies and play a significant part in the system development lifecycle, helping to guide the system's evolution. You will also participate in CAB processes, providing input into system changes and ensuring ongoing development aligns with both user requirements and regulatory standards.

The post will be based in the main hospital site and will work closely with staff in the CRUK Cambridge Centre (https://crukcambridgecentre.org.uk/) reporting to the Cancer Clinical Informatics Lead, Marcin Waryszak.

The successful candidate will have a positive, flexible and diplomatic approach to often demanding situations and have a real desire to help propel the work of a growing service bridging clinical and research work. Excellent organisational and communication skills are a must, as well as experience in building strong relationships at all levels of an organisation. The successful candidate will need to have experience managing laboratory IT systems or applications, with a solid understanding of data flow, SQL, and data manipulation as well as programming experience in at least one language. A background in working in a highly regulated environment is desirable, as is a focus on data integrity and compliance.
