The Temporary Employment Service (TES) of the University is one of four teams within the HR Shared Service Team of the HR Division. It is a customer-focused, high-volume service providing temporary cover for staff in the University, colleges and affiliated institutions. TES fills approximately 70 assignments per month and specialises in secretarial, administrative, reception, HR, communications, marketing and finance opportunities. In addition, the service provides a payrolling service for temporary workers which institutions can utilise.

The Role:

As a Recruitment Coordinator at Cambridge you will undertake key recruitment administration and customer service responsibilities as well as project coordination within the team. Your main duties will include:

  • Recruiting new candidates to join the TES temporary worker pool.
  • Placing temporary workers into departments and colleges by matching their skills and experience to assignment requests.
  • Assessing assignment requests from clients for their suitability via TES and sending them to preferred suppliers when required.
  • Undertaking project work to develop and enhance the service TES provides.
  • Conducting right to work checks and screening checks when required.
  • Answering queries and explaining TES policies and procedures to clients and workers via email, telephone, video call and face to face.
  • Monitoring the shared inbox for new assignment requests, applications and worker queries.
  • Maintaining and updating worker, client and assignment records.
  • Issuing assignment paperwork to workers and clients.
  • Leading the weekly payroll run on a rota basis.

About you:

In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with:

  • Substantial experience in an administrative role and a good foundation in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience of recruiting staff within a commercial employment business, agency, higher education institution or another sector.
  • An innovative and flexible approach, with the ability to plan your workload over the short to medium term, contributing to wider project work as required.
  • The ability to work to a high degree of accuracy with excellent attention to detail.
  • Evidence of strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to successfully present information through a variety of communication methods.

The position is available until 30th June 2026 in the first instance, and will provide you with an opportunity to expand your experience in recruitment administration while contributing to a varied and fast paced HR environment.
