Technician Commitment Coordinator


Are you an experienced, proactive, and efficient coordinator looking for an exciting new challenge? We have an opportunity for you to join our growing team and play a key role in supporting the Technician Team at the University of Cambridge. This is a new position where you will coordinate, develop, and oversee administrative operations, contributing to the successful delivery of our Technician Commitment Action Plan - a sector-wide initiative.

About Learning and Development (L&D):

Our L&D team is dedicated to supporting excellence in learning, teaching, and research at the University of Cambridge. We provide professional, vocational, and leadership development for over 13,000 university staff, aligning with the University's wider mission and strategy.

The role:

As our Technician Commitment Co-ordinator, you will:

  • Provide excellent administration and support to ensure a high level of service delivery.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to review and enhance administrative procedures for maximum efficiency, applying continuous improvement principles.
  • Coordinate and organize Technician Commitment Action Plan (TCAP) activities and administration.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for enquiries.
  • Assist in producing reports through data gathering and analysis.
  • Carry out some financial administration tasks.
  • Work closely with team members to organise events and create promotional materials, including maintaining and updating the Technician website.

About you:

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience of managing, designing and improving administrative processes and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Experience of using standard Microsoft Office software to an intermediate or advanced level e.g. Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and MS Teams.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • A flexible and cooperative approach to working with colleagues.
  • Experience of project coordination would be an advantage.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with technicians, and/or an understanding of the technician landscape would be an advantage.
