Independent Clinical Fellow (Sponsorship) (Fixed Term)
The CRUK Cambridge Institute (CRUK CI) invites senior clinicians intending to apply for CRUK Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellowships (or equivalent) to consider basing their group at our institute as Independent Clinical Fellows. Our new programme is specifically designed to support independent fellows become established clinical academics and leaders in their field.
In addition to hosting your research group, our unique programme provides substantial additional support (£50k per year) for use in our state-of-the-art core facilities, administrative support and critical input during your application process and for the duration of the fellowship, as well as mentorship from a diverse world-class faculty of cancer researchers. Your independent group will be provided with generous bench and write-up space in an institution with outstanding research infrastructure and a lively scientific community.
Independent Clinical Fellows will be supported to start their group with the aim of making the transition to a Group Leader or senior academic position either within or outside the institute. Fellows will be guaranteed support for the duration of their fellowship (totalling £250k over five years) but will be encouraged to make this transition in the early phase of their appointment. The institute has a strong track record in training clinician scientists including current members of our faculty, and hosts clinicians in receipt of external intermediate fellowship funding.
Cambridge abounds with opportunities for collaboration. Our faculty spans basic cancer biology, genomics, chemical biology, imaging, and computational biology. We regularly host symposia and seminars that include world leaders in cancer biology research. The institute is sited within walking distance of Addenbrookes hospital and is part of the larger Biomedical Research Campus that boasts Astra-Zeneca's world headquarters, and the MRC LMB among its constituents.
