Research Development Adviser

Cambridge University Libraries invite applications for the post of Research Development Adviser.

This role is based in the University Library Research Institute's embedded Research Development Team. This team provides strategic and operational leadership and support for research activities taking place across Cambridge University Libraries. Cambridge University Libraries comprise the University Library, 35 faculty and departmental libraries and the Library Storage Facility.

The University Library is among the world's oldest university libraries and home to one of the great collections of cultural treasures and research materials. Since its first recorded beginnings in 1416 as a small chest of manuscripts for Cambridge scholars, the library has grown to a physical collection of over ten million books, archives, maps, manuscripts, photographs and objects, and a growing number of digital collections. The University Library Research Institute (ULRI) was launched in 2023. Its key aim is to deploy the convening power of these collections to promote collaborative research both within the University and with external partners. It has a portfolio of 35 research projects, embedded research fellowships and collaborative doctorates and an active events and training programme.

Based at Cambridge University Library and reporting to the Head of Research, the Research Development Adviser works alongside library and archive specialists, conservators, imaging specialists, technical experts, academics, other University research development posts and external collaborators to drive high-quality research funding applications. Once grants have been awarded, the postholder supports post-award management, including contributing to project administration and reporting. We are looking for an individual with experience of working in a library, gallery, archive or museum and of research funding (either as an applicant/researcher or an administrator), or an individual with a background in research funding administration and an interest in libraries or collections-led research. The post is full time and permanent. We would be happy to consider flexible working arrangements.

For informal queries about the post, please contact Amelie Roper, Head of Research, at researchdevelopment@lib.cam.ac.uk.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 5 January 2025. Interviews will be held on Thursday 16 January 2025.
