Divisional Laboratory Manager (Internal Applicants Only)

Applications are invited for a Divisional Laboratory Manager based in the Civil Engineering Building in West Cambridge to coordinate the technical support across the Division for the Civil Engineering disciplines it supports in Structures, Geotechnics and Construction.
You will manage and provide technical leadership to a team consisting of laboratory managers and the Division's technicians. You will be a focal point for the Division's technician support and will ensure that current and future research and teaching activities/needs are met to the highest standards. Reporting to the Head of Division and working in consultation with the Departmental Head of Design and Technical Services, you will work closely with academics, support staff and students.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing laboratory facilities and staff to support research with the ability to operate specialist equipment for the characterisation of activities and advanced projects. You will have demonstrable experience of operating effectively in a research team and handling various research projects, as well as experience of implementing health and safety requirements within a research environment. You will be educated to degree level in a relevant research area and/or gained experience and specialist knowledge through a period of practical experience and theoretical training.
