Research Associate (Carroll Group) (Fixed Term)
The Carroll laboratory is focused on understanding mechanisms of steroid receptor (SR) transcriptional activity in cancer (http://www.carroll-lab.org.uk/) . We take a genomic, proteomic and molecular approach to delineate mechanisms underlying SR activity, with particular emphasis on defining mechanisms that contribute to tumorigenesis and drug resistance.
Applications are invited for a Research Associate to join our team to progress projects within the laboratory. Specifically, our lab is interested in using our genomic and proteomics tools, in conjunction with tumour samples to identify protein networks from primary tissue. The work will involve the identification of 'interactomes' and the biological characterisation of candidates in our pancreatic cancer models, with a focus on identifying the events that contribute to metastasis. This will involve detailed pathway biology and will revolve around our interest in characterising transcription factors and specialised proteins called pioneer factors in cancer.
You will have the opportunity to work under your own initiative and apply your problem solving skills to troubleshoot challenging technical issues. You will contribute towards running of various projects within the laboratory and you will present your work regularly at the lab meetings and at national and international conferences.
Applicants will have or be in pursuit of a PhD (or equivalent) and sufficient laboratory based experience, ideally with some postdoctoral experience already. You will be organised and be able to demonstrate broad practical molecular biology skills.
The role holder will possess some research experience with molecular biology and biochemical expertise. Experience in pancreatic cancer biology is required and ideally, previous experience in genomic or proteomic techniques would be advantageous. You will have experience supervising trainees and junior members of a lab.
