Data Analyst
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Data Analyst to join Cambridge University Libraries (CUL). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of evidence-based, user-focused library services that support the University's world-leading research, learning, and teaching.
The University of Cambridge is a highly research-intensive university, with 93% of our research in the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) submissions rated as 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'. CUL supports this research impact through expert advice, tailored services, and extensive print and electronic collections. CUL comprises the University Library, a network of over 35 faculty and departmental libraries, and an offsite storage facility. The work of the Data Analyst will underpin decisions around library services and collections.
You will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and presenting a wide range of data, including operational, financial, collections, publishing, and qualitative user research data. You will take a hands-on approach, occasionally conducting interviews, surveys, and other research activities with students and researchers to understand their needs and experiences.
You will develop dashboards, visualisations, and reports to support evidence-based planning and decision-making across CUL. Your insights will help shape strategic and operational priorities and inform University commitments relating to open research and the responsible use of metrics.
You will report to the Head of Assessment and User Experience and collaborate closely with colleagues across the Academic Services Directorate, including the Office of Scholarly Communication, the Electronic Collection Management team, and the Research Office, as well as external stakeholders, to improve the quality and accessibility of data for service design and evaluation.
The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. Please state in your application if you would like to explore the extent to which this position can be worked in this way.
We would be happy to consider flexible working arrangements.
