Research Assistant in Low-Cost Warehouse Automation (Fixed Term)


A position exists, for a Research Assistant in the Department of Engineering, to work on automation needs of small and medium-scale logistics enterprises. This particular role involves (a) scaling up the existing pilot deployments to starter solutions, and (b) developing pilot solutions for our industrial partner SF Express.

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are to support industrial pilots for low cost sensing and data management solutions, testing and evaluating low cost sensing and data management solutions, monitor connectivity of different strands of the research programme, and organisation of local events.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are experience in planning and development of sensing and data management systems, understanding of industrial production and/or logistics operations, and experience of developing systems using low-cost components. Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Computer Science or related subjects.

Research Assistant: £32,296 - £34,866

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 months in the first instance.
