Postdoctoral Research Associate ¿ Catalysis & Process Development (Fixed Term)

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 9 months in the first instance.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the IsoCAT Project, a collaboration with SATT Conectus and an industrial partner aimed at developing a novel iso-selective hydroformylation of propylene using palladium catalysis. This project builds on the proof-of-concept studies reported in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (Sigrist et al., 2022) and a patented technology (EP21315257).

The successful candidate will work on optimising and scaling up the palladium-catalysed hydroformylation process, adapting the technology to meet industrial requirements. This will involve kinetic and mechanistic studies to optimize catalyst performance; scale-up, process intensification and adaptation of the technology for industrial implementation; close collaboration with industrial partners to ensure alignment with commercial needs.

The position is available immediately for 9 months in the first instance. Subject to achieving project milestones and deliverables, funding for a further 9 months is likely to be available.

Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in organometallic chemistry, catalysis, or a related field, and a strong background in transition metal catalysis. Experience in reaction kinetics, mechanistic studies, and process optimisation would be highly desirable. This is an interdisciplinary project, so an ability to work as part of a team with excellent communication skills is essential.
