A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available within the group of Dr Albert Koulman at the Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS), focusing on the development and application of comprehensive polar metabolite analysis methods.
Scientists are encouraged to apply if they have substantial practical experience in the development of comprehensive quantitative methods for the analysis of metabolites. Applicants should have a background in the development of targeted, quantitative metabolomics approaches. The role holder will be responsible for running their own research projects and will work within a small team working on lipidomics and metabolomics who have overlapping.
Major responsibilities will be:
- Leading the development and validation of methods to comprehensively analyse of polar metabolism, including data processing and validating these methods for different samples types (cell & organoid cultures, subcellular fractions, plasma, urine, tissue etc).
- The application of these methods to sample sets of different collaborators, providing training and guidance of sample handling, preparations, data processing, data analysis and data integration with the collaborator.
- Setup robust quality control and quality assurance for the developed methods, contributing to the running and maintenance of the laboratory and sample tracking.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will initially be appointed as a Research Assistant (Grade 5, Point 38 £34,132) moving to Research Associate (Grade 7) upon confirmation of your PhD award.
