Research Associate

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Research Associate position in data sharing and artificial intelligence of clinical imaging trials within the Department of Radiology. The Department of Radiology is an internationally renowned imaging research team.

You will play a central role in the GUIDE-IT project, a global initiative led by us collaboratively with other teams globally that is bringing together clinical and data scientists to build a comprehensive data-sharing platform for randomised medical imaging trials. This work will enhance clinical imaging data sharing, generate valuable insights into clinical effectiveness, and foster the development of AI-driven and quantitative imaging analysis tools. You will work closely with industry partners, scientists, and clinicians using state-of-the-art imaging technologies to advance quantitative AI-based characterisation and prognosis assessment of cardiovascular and and cardiothoracic diseases.

You will also contribute to internationally significant randomised imaging trials led by our group, including CAD-Man and DISCHARGE, which have resulted in high-impact publications (e.g., BMJ and New England Journal of Medicine) and thereby shaped international guidelines and advanced research in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic imaging. You will support ongoing and new multicentre imaging trials focused on improving the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of cardiovascular and and cardiothoracic diseases. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, with a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area (e.g. Medicine, Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics). Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis but are awaiting award are also encouraged to apply. They will have some research experience with a developing track record of publications, and a strong foundation in software development and data analysis and ideally image analysis software and quality assurance. They will also bring excellent presentation and teaching skills and be willing to take a leading role in supervising research students. If you have a passion for advanced imaging research, data sharing, and collaborative science, we would love to hear from you.
