Course Coordinator
The Faculty of English invites application for the post of Course Coordinator to support taught courses in both the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic (ASNC) and the Faculty of English. We are seeking a motivated and professional individual with excellent communication skills to take up this interesting and varied role. The role requires regular engagement with colleagues in the Dept of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic, the Faculty of English and across the collegiate university. Dealing with a wide range of colleagues over a variety of tasks needs good time management, adaptability, problem-solving, tact and resilience.
The role has three key areas of requiring a high level of accuracy, numeracy and adaptability:
- Providing a wide range of support to the Department of ASNC, working closely with the Head of Department and other academic colleagues to provide administrative support for all aspects of the ASNC Tripos, termly departmental meetings and a range of other departmental activities
- Making the arrangements for colleagues who are paid on a sessional or hourly basis via the university's bespoke payroll system (CCWS) for work across all areas of the Faculty (English, ASNC, Digital Humanities).
- Collating the termly course information booklet (Notes on Courses) for the English Tripos which provides information about lectures and seminars to students (600 undergraduates, 200 postgraduate students).
You will work most closely with the Head of Dept of ASNC, the Assistant Faculty Administrator plus a wide range of academic staff and be an integral part of the Faculty's friendly Professional services team.
The successful candidate will be proficient in using Microsoft Office software, including Excel; have well developed organisational skills; and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written). They should be able to work collaboratively, with a high level of accuracy and have good attention to detail.
Candidates should be educated to HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualification or hold an equivalent level of practical experience. Administrative experience in a Higher Education environment and knowledge of course administration is essential for the role, as is a high level of numeracy.
The post is full-time with the potential for hybrid working by agreement and subject to a probationary period.
