Reprographics Technician
Cambridge University's Estates Division is seeking a Technician to join a busy Reprographics Department. You will contribute to the day to day running of the department producing high quality printed materials to numerous internal and external customers.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced staff and play a key part in the continued development of the department and a crucial role in the production of University examination papers to the highest standards whilst maintaining their security.
Key Responsibilities
Printing large volumes of exam papers to meet tight deadlines, working closely with team members to ensure all papers and additions are printed to the highest standards, accurate and secure.
Printing high quantities of various types of documents using a range of digital print devices software and finishing equipment to fold leaflets, bind booklets, collate inserts, laminate posters and assembling banners.
Using initiative to prioritising work as required and manage time to meet tight deadlines.
Maintaining machinery and resolving minor breakdowns, problem solving errors and calling out service engineers as required.
Advising customers on the best printing solutions, in person, over the phone and via e-mail, giving guidance on how to produce files suitable for printing.
Liaising with Departments to ensure the accuracy of information provided for invoicing.
Creating quotes and taking payments by card payment and via the online store.
Creating compliment slips, Business Cards and postcards for print and using expertise to make files ready for print using Adobe CC and PrismaPrepare.
Unloading paper deliveries, ensuring paper and toner stock is at required levels.
Assessing situations for Risk and reporting problems to the Reprographics Supervisor/Manager.
About you:
- You have experience in the use of high-volume printers, finishing equipment and related software
- Have experience of maintaining print machinery and be able to solve minor breakdowns
- The ability to work as part of a small team and be able to work on your own initiative, prioritising work as required
- You have good communication skills and be able to stay calm when dealing with difficult customers
