Facilities Assistant


We are seeking a proactive Facilities Assistant to join our Facilities Management (FM) team. You will play a key role in the smooth operation of FM services across the University's Estate, including the Sidgwick and West Cambridge sites, supporting various University departments and FM services.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with the day-to-day operations of buildings and sites, ensuring they remain safe, functional, and fit for purpose. You will carry out property checks to maintain building safety, work alongside contractors, and provide access for both reactive and planned maintenance tasks.

As part of a collaborative team, you will help deliver high-quality facilities services that support and contribute to the efficient running of University buildings and sites.

The role holder frequently works non-standard hours; sometimes working without direct supervision across multiple buildings and sites.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in facilities, custodial, or related roles
  • A positive, collaborative working style
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff and visitors at all levels
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform daily physical tasks, including lifting heavy items
  • Good time management, organisational, and coordination skills
  • Basic DIY skills
